AAD 2019 Scholarships Announcement

Dear IADVL Members,

On behalf of the IADVL EC 2018, it is my pleasure to invite applications from IADVL members (PLMs and LMs) for the following scholarships for the 2019 AAD Annual Meeting to be held in February 28 –  March 5, 2019 in Washington DC.

 

A. 2019 AAD Annual Meeting Registration Scholarship (Two) 

 Scholarship recipients are nominated by IADVL and benefits include 

  • Waiver of the non-member registration fee for the 2019 AAD Annual Meeting February 28 –  March 5, 2019 in Washington DC
  • Admission to one ticketed half-day course
  • Invitation to attend the International Scholarship Reception and Dinner with AAD leadership on February 28, 2019
  • Invitation to attend the International Member Reception on March 1, 2019

The following are the criteria for this scholarship:

  • Must be a board-certified dermatologist
  • Nominated by their national dermatologic society
  • Attach a signed and official letter of recommendation (PDF preferred format) to online application.  Only letters of recommendation from recognized national dermatologic societies will be accepted – local societies or foundations may not submit letters without an enclosed letter from the national society
  • Has not received an international scholarship from the IADVL/ AAD in the past

 

B. Strauss and Katz World Congress Fund Scholarship (Two)

      (formerly known as the Poster Exhibit Scholarship)

Scholarship recipients are nominated by IADVL and benefits include 

  • Stipend (ranging from $1500 to $2000 USD based on travel costs to the United States), 
  • complimentary registration for the meeting, 
  • admission to one ticketed half-day course, 
  • an invitation to attend the International Scholarship Recipient Reception Dinner
  • Poster abstracts will be displayed electronically at the meeting and featured in the World Congress Fund Poster Abstract Book.

The criteria for this scholarship are as follows:  

  • Abstract must be submitted with application. 
  • Only nationals of developing countries are eligible. 
  • Apply as a resident in dermatology or apply within three years of completing dermatology residency training at the time of the meeting. 
  • Be endorsed by a national dermatologic society. A signed letter of endorsement from the society is required to be attached to the online application and must be in Adobe Acrobat portable document format (PDF). View a sample letter. 
  • Priority will be given to applicants who have never attended AAD meetings. 
  • Previous International scholarship recipients of IADVL/AAD are not eligible. 
  • No deferrals permitted. Eligible applicants may reapply the following year if unable to accept scholarship. 

 

Applicants need to fill up and send the attached application form to academy@iadvl.org with a copy to secretarygeneral@iadvl.org  on or before  30th July, 2018. The mail should be titled 'Application for 2019 AAD Scholarship: Your name' and should include the following as attachments:

  • Short CV of a single page, preferably with a publication list.
  •  Abstract.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Applicant has to be a bonafide member (PLM/LM) of IADVL and need to quote that.
  2. Applicant needs to state clearly whether he/she has received AAD or any other scholarship ENDORSED by IADVL before.
  3. If applicant is presently a PG trainee, a letter from the Head of the Department stating this must be submitted along with the application.
  4. The applications will be evaluated by three judges having no conflict of interest nominated by the IADVL Academy; the evaluation criteria are attached. 
  5. The results will be declared by 20th August, 2018.
  6. The AAD deadline to apply and nominate applicants towards both the above scholarships for the 2019 AAD Annual Meeting is 1st September, 2018.
  7. For Registration Reciprocal Scholarships, a signed official letter of recommendation will be provided to each nominee to attach to their online application. Further, a nomination form for each nominee will be filled up online by the Secretary General, IADVL.
  8. For Strauss and Katz World Congress Fund Scholarships, signed letters of endorsement will be provided to the two best poster abstracts. The awardees have to upload the abstracts themselves with the letter of endorsement from IADVL.
